bov
Ok, finally got my Drag 3 gsr running, took it out for a drive, and as you start coming up through the rpms, it's whistling almost like the bov is letting all the pressure off, and its hesitating. I've tried tightening and tightening the bov, but it doesn't seem to change nething? anybody have some suggestions of where to start checking??
TIA
TIA
Ya, that's sounds like the wastegate opening to me. Do you have a boost guage? If so does it hold steady boost?
The hesitating could be many things, but maybe you are running lean. Do you have stock injectors with a 12:1? I would pull your plugs and check the color of them.

It may be the wastegate, i don't know what the wastegate sounds like, but this is like a whistling. yes i do have a boost gauge, but i haven't taken it up far enough to get into boost. Only like 4 grand, then let off, cuz it has no mileage on it, and at 4 grand, it comes up almost to 0 vacum. and it's running really rich, cuz i have 370's with a 6:1 disc. i'm working on hooking up my vafc .
Whistling? sounds like the turbo.... the monster t3/t4s make a amply sweet sexy whistle sound when they spool.... mine starts whistling at like 2700rpms and gets louder till I get that "rush of air" sound that drowns it out... The whistling also starts before vacumm and at vacumm, but once I hit boost it pretty much gets drowned out by the air going through the charger...
The only time I hear the WG is at full boost when it sounds like a high powered vacuum cleaner set on reverse, and then it gulps between shifts....
The sound you hear might possibly be normal... try boosting a few psi and see if you can. If you can then it might just be that signature turbo sound your not used to, if not then its probably the wg.

It may be that..... that's what i thought at first too... cuz i thought it sounded like a a spooling noise. Sorta like you can hear the blades spinning really fast. But then when it was hesitating, started thinking something else, but also, it doesn't make this noise in neutral, like free-reving, only when your driving, like with a load on it, but i can rev it in neutral, and the bov will make a nice lil whistle.

That's what i thougth....... which made me believe the whistling was the bov letting all the pressure out. I don't know... guess i'm gonna have to take the car back out in the morning, and drive it, and see.. but i know that it is running rich, so i dont know if that could be the hesiation. Or the other thing is, i have a gutted cat, and i haven't wired up my O2 simulator yet, so could that make the ecu act up, causing the hesitation??
