Default Boosting problems

Ok, I'm stumped here, so any thoughts would be appreciated.

Few weeks ago I was driving home from work, everything was working fine. Then I decided to overtake another driver and noticed it would just pop, not respond to the accelerator when boost was starting to build. Drove home just fine without boost.
Car idles fine and all is fine until I try to boost, when the boost gauge starts to get to pressure side it just doesnt function.
First I thought it was the map sensor, took a bicycle pump and tested it, responds to the pump just fine. Hose would seem ok too, so its not leaking pressurized air. Fuel pressure is ok and no changes to the fuel maps were done. Also checked the fuel filter and its ok.
Strange thing was, it happened so suddenly.

check the cap, plugs, rotor, wires, dist and replace as needed.

a screwy ignition can leave you scratching your head for days.

I know, changed the plugs, rotor looked fine, cap looked fine. Gonna measure the resistance of wires after dinner, but they look fine on the outside.
Gonna check the cam timing tomorrow as well as hall sensor mounting, if that moved it would cause all kinds of funny issues. will post progress.

I'll check them, would it cause problems like this. Its almost feeling like its not getting any gasoline, but I'm sure it is, plugs are dark and well the settings are on the rich side and they werent changed. I'll report back tomorrow.

EDIT: Checked the IC pipes, all were connected. Checked plug wire resistance, they were within specs... Damnit, this is starting to be a pita.

Checked and looks ok, it doesnt overboost at all.
Its just that when you start to transfer over from vacuum to boost, it feels like its not getting fuel. Just starts to pop and doesnt want to go anywhere.
However, I havent changed anything fuel related, so its really bugging me.

Update:
Ok I was testing it on the back road near my house. Well still does it, went and rolled back an old fuel table which is VERY rich. Here's few things I found out, when I flip the throttle plate open and rev, the upper waterhose gets harder. Ok, I'm not too worried about that, because water doesn't disappear, no oil in water and the expansion tank works fine (doesnt get overfilled and water goes back into the radiator when cools).

Also the ignition module (ignitor) gets pretty damn warm. Now, what do you guys think, possible thats fried? When I rev on neutral, I can pretty much redline it unless the turbo spools and boosts, thats when it pops.

Todays update:

Changed the ignition module, no dice. Still does it. This is really becoming a pain in the ***.

$10 says you've got a major boost leak.

As soon as you try to go to boost, you're entering a boost map which is super rich. The "pop" you're getting is dumping a ton of fuel in there without any air.

Go over the IC Pipes again or spray them all with soapy water and pressure test it.

But if I have a boost leak, wouldnt the intake manifold then be without boost? I got a map sensor from one of the intake runners, close to the plenuum. I tried yanking the IC couplings, they seem intact, I'll check them tomorrow evening when I come back from work.

I'm also considering the ignition side. Because once I start to go to boost it just goes "booooo...pop pop" Maybe coil failure, as the controller is changed and working. What do you think?

not necessarily. It could be a clamp that is loose, but tight enough that it'll show a couple PSI and then the leak will happen.

Good luck man.

could be the map sensor

that's what my car did and it was the map sensor

Well its 100% not the plugs, I changed them right at the beginning. Also changed the ignition module. Havent checked the IC-pipes yet.

Oh and the popping isnt the problem, its the fact that I lose power when it happens.

LA_Hondas, yeah thats what I thought it was too, I tested the MAP with a bicycle pump, it responds to pressure just fine.

man now i want to know what it is.. so it only does it when you start to boost? sounds to me like a /fuel/timing/ignition problem.. cause i've had that problem before.. do you have cam gears? if so you should check the marks on them make sure they are zero'd out or at what your tuner set them at last.. i've had the cam gear bolts loosen on me and go + and - on both intake and exhaust at the same time and it cause similar problems to yours... what kind of fuel management you running? i could be wrong but i hope we can all help you narrow it down.. post up what it was, when you figure it out..

Thats what I'm hoping for, group of brains is smarter than one.

I'll check the cam gear, yes its adjustable. Yeah it only does it when it starts to boost.

I'll update later today with my findings.

I'm running KMS fuel controller and a separate adjuastable ignition controller.

Cam timing is ok. No problems there. So, we can count that one out.
