Default boosting D16Y5?

Yep, I own a lowly HX - it is what it is... I've searched... and found a single, uninformative thread.

If I decide to boost I'll be taking the DIY route vs kit. Given a swap is not in the near future - Reasons not to boost (mild, stock block / head / injectors) this engine? What turbo? - Wheel efficiency, overspin choke & compressor wheel speed have my head spinnin'... Recommendations? A BOV seems a must, but is an intercooler really necessary @ mild boost?

-- http://www.cse.uconn.edu/~yelevich/turbo/turbo.html (and other sources - Turbo & Hich-Tech Performance, here) is where I'm getting my DIY info...

While I'll be doing the install, I won't attempt tuning the initial setup - any good shops in the Portland (OR) area?

A lot of questions, I know. Thanks for helping a n00b out...

It's alot better than having a D16Y7...anyway, you'll want an IC. You can get away without it but why risk it? You're gonna get more power with it anyway. Depending on what you want to do, a 14b, T3, or T3/T04B are all good choices.

No reason not to go turbo. The motor is a good one and it's ready to put out over 200 WHP!!!!

What about a mitsu 16G, t25 or b20?

Need the motor to last a while - low boost.

It's ok bud I've got Y5 syndrome too But Hatchblack has a point better than a Y7. I am also looking to go the route of a turbo but have a ex p&p head, jg cam, and ex ecu to put in first. Great link in your first post I can't wait to read the whole thing. what mods have you done so far?
