Default BOOSTING A B18C1

Alright, I am about to put my Greddy 18G turbo kit on my 2001 Acura Integra GSR. But I have to ask a few questions to make sure I dont mess anything up. I am going to be running the kit with a Hondata S200 w/ boost option. So here is the two questions I have:

1) I was told that I can run 10 psi safely on stock internals. I have 81,xxx miles on my engine. I dont think that is safe, but I dont know, I will be tuneing this car.

2) Also, I was told by someone (but I dont beleave it) that I can run 15 psi if I get some pistions, rods, rings, etc, but without sleeving the block. They told me the block can hold hella boost, but I dont beleave it. I know the crank can hold good HP numbers, but I dont know about the block not being sleeved.

Thanks for any answers that you all may have. I am just trying to not mess anything up like I said.

Thanks,
Jason

That's usually the consensus- 10psi okay, >15psi- sleeve, but there are guys on the board that are making 400 plus hp on stock sleeves.
Really should SEARCH, everything you are looking for is there.

I have heard of people running 14psi w/o any of those internal parts. With a good tune that motor is stronger than you would think. You need to use the search feature in the upper right hand corner of the screen. If you use the right components you can make gobs of power on lower psi. Start by searching for member b18cx and look at the power he makes on only 8.5 psi!

Maybe if your worried about it then you can do a commpresion test or CLT test to see what kind of condition the motor is in. I think you will be totally fine with the Greddy kit at 10psi. PLEASE do yourself a favor and get a Hondata before you start getting crazy with the boost. Good Luck!

i run 11 PSI daily, BUT that doesn't mean i run full boost ALL day. hell you can run 100 psi, but you'll never hit it on your boost gauge

i've heard of 15 psi on bone stock block and i've heard of 400whp @ 20psi on forged internals with stock sleeves, that was tygsr. another guy made 326whp @12psi on bone stock block, that was nextelbuddy. i would say 10 psi daily would be okay with the hondata. and you will stay out of boost 95% of daily driver so it really isn't that bad. just get it tuned.

turbo's have alot to do with it also. so they guy boosting 17 psi on stock block with a tiny snail is about the equivalent of the guy boosting 7 psi on a decent sized snail. theres alot of unseen factors. psi doesn't always equal itself. it depends what turbo is producing the boost. and on my B18c1 i am using a T04E with equal length manifold and run 7 psi lo setting and 10 psi hi setting with the profec b.

this was discussed last week. PSI is not a measure of stress on the engine. Actual output is. For example - Car A running 10psi making 250hp has less stress than Car B running 5psi making 350hp.

We dont want ppl getting the impression they can slap on a huge SC63 on stock internals, push <10psi and make a ton of power without problems.
