Boosting b16....
Hey guys i just recently came back into the honda scene. I have purchased a 99 civic si bone stock with 130000 miles on it. Possibly wanting to boost it. Will this be ok or will the motor need to be freshened up? compression test was low 200's across the board. Im not looking for Internet hero dyno numbers.....looking for 250 whp maybe a lil morecas it needs to be reliable. Please chime in with expierience or info., Thank you

[QUOTE=ZLboosted_EG;44310200]Those truely aren't high miles if it's been maintained. If comp is good (within specs) then just slap a kit on, tune it then enjoy[/QUOTJust place a good turbo kit on it. I did 7.5 in the 1/8 mile with a bone stock B16a with 140xxx mile on it.

Yea 250 is reliable for that motor with that many miles just get a GOOD TUNE . I would put a new head gasket and arp studs thow. Cuz your gonna need head studs for that much hp. And a new head gaket won't hurt or you can do one head stud at a time if you don't want to do a new head gasket just make sure you replace them in the right order one by one I did it the one by one method. Motor runs fine no headgasket problems. Many don't recamend it. But been running 200 hp on a b16 now for 4 months no problems yet. Gonna be getting a bigger turbo and injectors soon and a retune gonna be shooting for 300hp

Well I had my 2000 civic Si wth a bonestock motor/head with a greddy kit on 8 psi, it put down 221hp and 181Tq for over 2 years tuned on a crappy V-AFC, took off turbo kit 3 years ago and my motor has 210 psi across the board. Still runs strong!

you wont need arp headstuds for 250whp lol. as long as your not detonating in boost you shouldn't have any issues with blowing a h.g. what so ever. if you are detonating in boost you need a different tuner.

Re: Boosting b16....
dont even bother putting a 40r on your stock b16. also, lets clear the myth that you need a gt series turbo.
match the turbo to your motor, power goals, transmission and working rpm range. not much of that turns into "slap a huge turbo on a little motor and have 2000 rpms powerband on a street car"
over the summer i tuned 2 turbo b16's. one had a 60-1 on it running 9 psi. the other had a 57 trim also on 9 psi. let me tell you the 57 trim was much much nicer to drive around. more area under the curve, better response and just all around more fun.

a b16 with a 40r reving to 10k has way more then 2k rpm of powerband..............

Re: Boosting b16....
I think a 40r rev-speed woud be over kill for me. I think you would have more than 2k rpm worth of powerband though....I was looking into a 28r what kinda numbers am i looking at with this setup? Also iam going to use a iron manifold i absolutely have to keep a/c. P/s is not a concern. Im more concerned with spool and curve. I just think 250whp is a nice compromise..
