Default Boosted ls/vtec

hey i got a question.... i have a b16 right now and an ls motor. so i was thinking of building an ls/vtec then turboing it... i have the turbo and all that except for a downpipe and intercooler... its a turbonetics t3/t4 housing t60-1 hi fi. its a .57 trim.... anyway... my b16 is burning oil now so i picked up a complete ls motor for and was wondering what to turbo... b16... ls... or put them together and make an ls/vtec turbo... i was planning on using b16 pistons, shot peening the ls rods, getting a block guard, arp rod and head bolts...and only boosting like 6-8 psi. my wastegate i have is only like a 38mm or something like that... anyway i have to many options so i need help... i'm in a machinist program for school so if i have to do any machining i got that covered... but i'm broke so i wanna do it as cheap as possible but have it reliable... i know that sounds dumb but i cant spend to much......

build an LS/VTEC out of the complete LS bottom end and the PR3 head. If you put the combination of PR3 pistons and LS rods with the B16 head, you'll have a compression ratio that is a little higher than you'd like for a turboed application given your options. With the combination of the B16 head and the LS shortblock, you should be able to hit upper 200s if not low 300s safely. I would invest in a set of ARP Rod bolts while its all apart.

That would be the cheapest, easiest and most effective way IMO

i calculated the compression on the ls/vtec and it came out to be like 11.5466:1 or something like that... is that to much to boost on seeing as i'm only gonna run 6-8 psi

It isn't too high to use, but i thought you said the B16 bottom end was smoking?? I would use the LS shortblock w/ the PR3 head because it is in better condition and all around more favorable for boost
