its user preferance on the block choices. You can make good power on straight ls as well as straight b16a. you can also make good pwer on a ls/vtec setup. I would go with whatever you feel comfortable with.

ls/vtec will be little more costly due ot the oil lines and other machining

Like b18bturbo said it's user preference. I'd go with either the straight ls or b16. The LS will put down a lot of torque...

LS/vtec. You dont need to machine anything any longer. It will be a little more expensive though, but that would be my first choice. Someone in the sponsor classifieds is selling a complete set for ls/vtec. i would check it out.

Otherwise probably chose just an LS because I personally dont like reving up to 5000rpm to start getting my power.

Ha! That is why I bought a honda

I have almost the same decision to make, and I think I am going to build the b16, as I like high revving small displacement engines and you can't beat the rode to stroke ratio. Big turbo, rocket valve-train = bliss

Really though, like everyone one said it is just a choice you have to make, all can make good power.

no need to yell...personally i would just spent the money on good fuel/engine managment and leave the block alone if only want 300whp.

wow...sounds like a big waste of money for 300whp. i think most of us could do that for $1500ish with either the LS, B16, or the LS/Vtec....

The LS torque is SOOOO fun though. For a street car thats what I would build, plus all the retards will be like 'yall can't go fast without veetek' then you can be like 'yall watch me, suckas!'
