I have a 2000 ek hatch with the d16y5 and the guy I bought it from claimed it had forged internals. Anyways it has a garret 60. trim turbo boosting at 10 psi. It misfires at the end of 1st and 2nd and basically any time I lay into it in 3rd, 4th and 5th. I tightened the gaps in the spark plugs from about .035 to .028. It seemed to clear it up a bit but still sputters a little bit. Should I tighten the gaps a little bit more? Any suggestions. Thanks!

 

keep closing down the gap. if u have to go really small to make it happen you might want to look into replacing the coil.

 

Alright cool. Yeah I'll probably go from new coil to spark plug wires and spark plugs.

 

good call it could also be the wires or the cap or rotor.

something is weak in the ignition system by the sounds of it.
