Tial V-band Flanges Different? *PICS*
Hey guys,
I'm a lil confused here...Bought a Tial MVS wastegate off a guy off here and it came in being the one without the water cooled ports. I ordered a new one also and it is the water cooled one. The flanges seem to be made of different metals...here's a couple pics. The darker ones are the ones the guy off here included and the shiny ones are from the new one. Any info/experience on this would be awesome guys thanks!!!

post pics of the first wastegate you got...
a lot of mvs fakes (that dont have the water ports) are floating around and they have flanges that look like the dark ones you posted.

OK, here's some pics for ya:
I understand they are two different models, but just wanna clarify ya know. Thanks again for your knowledge on this guys! Hopefully a Tial dealer or representative can verify these.
Side by sides:
This is the water cooled model:

This is the NON water cooled one:

The non water cooled unit looks a bit questionable compared to the water cooled.
If I was a betting man, I would put money on that non water cooled being your chinese knockoff.
Surely someone from TiAL will see this and can confirm or deny.

non water cooled one is fake. you can tell by the machining its not as clean. and the anodizing is not as vibrant as the tial version. the machining is a " tell all:

The NON water cooled gate is a definate knockoff. AND a damn good one. These are coming outta malaysia and actually do function and look like the real thing. The only draw backs are different metals used in manufacturing and their lifespan. The real ones are good for over 750,000 engine cycles (which is insane) and the knockoffs are good for around 6,200 on avereage. The knockoff flanges are usually not shiny stainless like they should be and are dark in color. The numbers on the top hats are a give away too, but not always. Hopefully this info helps someone in the future! Thanks for the help again!!
