Default no spark from distributor to plugs...

ok... im on my buddies name doing this... but i recently put in a msd external coil with new plugs, wires, cap and rotor. the problem is when ever i try and start it the engine just keeps turning over. i found out that there is no spark getting to the spark plug wires but it is gettin to the distributor. everythings hooked up right. could it just be that the distributor itself is bad?

How did you test to find out there is not spark getting to the wires?

Usually what I would do to see if the plugs are sparking is to take a plug out, put it in the end of the wire, then hold next to part of the bare metal on the rad. support while someone turns the engine over a few times. If it's sparking then you know that the dizzy, cap, wires and plugs are all good. If it doesn't spark then start with the simple fix and try a different wire...then a new cap...rotor...and so forth.

ok now thats the thing... we did that and it doesn't spark so we did exactly what you said already... its a brand new msd cap, coil, wires, and rotor. we then even went and got new plugs then also. but we cant figure out why the sparks not getting to the wires.

ok the same thing happened to me... I replaced the cap and rotor and my **** went sour... I completed the install with new products and went inside to let my car warm up... five mins later i come out and all of a sudden... put put put it stalls out and im like WTF... it was such a long time that i changed my cap and rotor that it was sooo used to getting a weak signal that when I put the brand new cap and rotor it surged the system with a more powerful and constant signal and fried the ICM and coil. the parts set me back $50 or so... theres a guy on ebay that sells the set for like $150 cheaper than autozone or advanced...

heres my original thread...
https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=2

and ill try and get u the guys email to see if he has any in stock...

ok got his email its myko85@gmail.com his name is mike lee...

def worth getting considering the coil from autozone is $85 and the ICM is $95 for a grand total of $190 including tax... i think lee sells the set for $60 shipped plus $2 insured... let me know how everything works out...

you can buy me a six pack for my troubles...
