Default Boost Leaking...

So my car is still leaking boost. I've checked and re-checked everything I can think of. My wastegate is not even opening. I can't see any leaks around the turbo mani or wastegate. The IC piping is all nice and tight. The BOV is clamped tight. I even stiffened it up all the way to make sure it wasn't cracking open and leaking.

What do you guys think? Is it time for a compression check, or is there a common place for leaks...TB, intake mani, etc.

How do you know it's leaking boost?

Well, here's how I came to this "educated guess".

I have been running 8 PSI for 7 months now. About a week ago, I was only getting 5-6 PSI.

1. I tried adjusting the boost controller (TurboXS HP MBC). No luck, still 5-6 lbs.

2. I noticed that I can't hear my wastegate opening. It's open loop, so it's pretty easy to tell when it's open even with the 3" exhaust.

3. Today I did a little test ... I disconnected the wastegate's vacuum source. It still hits 5-6 PSI (and no more, as it should since the wastegate should not open, eh).

4. I only get around 3 PSI at 4000 RPM. It takes me until approx 6000 RPM to hit 6 PSI. It's REALLLY sluggish compared to what it was. I was getting full boost between 3500-4000 RPM.

Maybe you blew your welds on the intake manifold? Sorry jk.
Take off you intercooler and have it pressure checked--maybe you sprung a leak in there.
I was also thinking maybe your wg was damaged, but more than likely it would leak all the time and you would hear it.
Inspect all of your silicon couplings, maybe a pinhole somewhere that expands to a much larger hole under boost.

Yeah, I took ALL the damn piping off. Had it welded finally yesterday and got rid of the ghetto rigged stuff, and I was hoping that somewhere in the millions of couplings and JB welded BOV flange the leak would be fixed, but nay...I say unto thee...I hate cars as much as I love them.

is it a t-3? Maybe the stock hole that is suposed to be pluged is leaking, you knwo the one you have to plug to run an external WG. HTH

you say there are no leaks around your turbo manifold? do you notice any unfamiliar sounds? how does the car sound? have you checked your turbo manifold gasket?

I would check the boost controller and the seal around the compressor housing of the turbo. Now I know you might have forgotten, but is there anything at all you did right before it started all this?

I'm always doing something, so you're right, I can't remember if I was doing anything I'm almost ready to pull the motor because I'm pissed and go ahead and build it.

Don't ask how guys, but my fuel injector rail studs were loose, I was leaking pressure thru the fuel injector seals. How do I know? Because I turned my MBC up to 15lbs and damn it's waaaaaaaaaaaay faster than 8 LBS. Turned it back down now that I got it fixed, but ****...

On my car the AFC hack worked fine at 15 PSI, ran it up 5 or 6 times like that and no problems too bad I can't leave it there...

Yes, DSM 450cc w/VAFC no missing link or fmu. Just lots of intercooled boost loving

Now I really can't wait to build it and run that boost up to....20 PSI? I bet that would be fun.
