Default boost gauge might be incorrect, please help.

I just installed my turbo kit and I have a Tial wastegate with a .65 bar spring and when I'm boosting my gauge sticks at 4.5 psi is my gauge broken or is my wastegate opening at 4.5 psi? I get good vacum readings and everything looks good on the gauge side. Can someone please help I want to make sure I'm not over boosting on the street.

where do you have the side port on the wastegate tapped to?

You should have the top of the wg open to atmosphere and the side connected like you have it.

Is you BOV hooked up to a vac/boost source on the top and the bottom left open to atmosphere?

top of the wg is open to atmosphere b/c I don't have a evc. My BOV is hooked up correctly the car runs good and pulls hard I'm just worried since the spring is roughly a 10 psi spring and the gauge is only reading 4.5 psi and 5 psi at most but never over.

have you checked the WG spring ? if I am not mistaken..the 4.5psi (.3 bar) spring are yellow color..
.45 bar is orange..and I forgot the .65 bar ones...

but check the WG spring first...

mine has the green spring in it and from what I hear the green tial spring is almost 10 psi I have checked the spring and it is the green one. Is it possible that the turbo is boosting 10 psi and that the gauge is incorrect has anyone ever had this happen. Also what could cause the turbo not to boost what the wastegate is set to? Could my exhaust have anything to do with it and the fact that I have a cat on the car. Also could it by chance be the gauge.
Thanks for the help guys

does it feels like 10 psi ? I mean you can tell a 4.5 psi to a 10 psi...

it is the green spring then, and since your vacuum is red correctly, so that kinda ruled out a pinch line in the vac source...

my best suggestion is to swap out boost gauge to see if you have a defective one...what kinda gauge is tit ?

well this is my first turbo setup so I'm not sure if it feels like 10 psi or 4.5 psi. When it hits 4.5 psi the car really pulls hard the wheels spin just a little. I am using a brand new autometer silver faced ( I think phantom ) boost gauge. I'm hoping it is only boosting 4.5 psi because I am real happy wih the way it pulls but it could be 10 psi not really sure. Next week I plan on switching boost gauges.

another thing, boost gauge has a very fast reaction, it's kind ahard to explaing, but once you see a perfect working boost gauge and see how fast it reacts to a your throttle pedal, it's easy to spot a defective gauge....

where are you anyway ? you mention before you live around the valley...

if you have your waste gate hooked to the compressor, and your gauge to the intake manifold after the throttle plate, your boost reading is going to be lower since there is a pressure drop after the intercooler, about 2psi depending on the size of your intercooler.

well it looks like the boost gauge was hooked up to a vacum source off the fpr and I have a tiny audi a4 intercooler so I don't think there is much pressure drop. I live in the San Fernando Valley near Sherman Oaks. If anyone is willing to help me out I would appreciate it if I could borrow a gauge.
