boost on fmu...
hey guys i have 100k on my motor (b18b) but it has good compression (170-175 across) so i boosted it. as of now i have 12.1 fmu, missing link, walbro intank 255 pump and stock injectors. my wastegate spring is 4.6 lbs and i boost on it quite often. i dont plan to up the boost with stock injectors. my friend is selling RC 310's for cheap.
QUESTIONS:
1. do you guys think ill be ok to run 7 lbs on RC 310 injectors? daily driving.
2. if i get an afc can they do any tuning keeping the fmu? i dont wanna run hack.
3. will the car idle and run normal just by dropping the 310's in?
4. should i change my FMU to a different ratio? im looking for 1st reliability 2nd speed.
5. if 310's are not ideal for 7 lbs which do you think would be best?
6. any suggestions you have to give to me please do. im new to the turbo world.
Rob

Re: boost on fmu... (EKsnatchback)
This is just my opinion, but the AFC is going to have to control those injectors, and you can regulate the PSI of the FMU I believe, (unless it's a vortech FMU) Correct me if I'm wrong..

Yes you will be fine. I ran a simular set-up on my b16a (310's and a fields sfc w/vortec fmu).
I would recomend a 6:1 fmu the 310's, and the afc to fine tune the air/fuel ratio. I was able to get my air/fuel ratio rite around 12.0:1 +/- .2 with the sfc. your engine wil idle like stock with the 310's.
I ran 9psi on my b16a with that set-up for about 2 years with no problems, IMO it's great alternative to just a fmu and running the hack. get yourself a btm also and you should be set, low budget tuning
