bolting turbo to block?
do you guys fix a bracket going from your turbo to the engine block or do you just rely on the manifold bolts to hold it all on. Im wondering whether I should knock up a bracket, as its quite alot of extra weight the cylinder head threads have to carry. thanks in advance

The bolt location on the lower/front face of the block makes a decent support brace. The oem exh manifold used to be bolted in that location.
It is enough to take some of the hanging weight off the turbo manifold.

thanks, do alot of people run setups wothout supporting brackets? I'll try knocking one up for mine. I have a HF manifold so I was going to use the two female threads on top of the manifold.

I have not had to run support brackets with the log manifolds I have used.
The new equal length manifold I'm building will have a bracket going to that bolt location to help revieve some of the dead weight off the tubes. The turbo hangs further away from the block than my replaced log manifold.

personally, I think no matter your manifold, you should support the turbo, it is a lot of weight, and it gets very hot, it is meant to be supported, look at any factory turbocharged car. usually the engine can hold most the weight, but put a support to the front side of the turbo to keep it from wanting to rotate down, this one brace alone will releave the manifold of a LOT of pressure.

It's definatly a good idea but most people don't do it. If your using the HF there should be an L bracket under each side of the manifold that bolts right up to the block. I would just use those if your not hanging a very big turbo off it. Otherwise the threaded hole just above the pan does work well.
