Vented hood to keep engine cooler....
There is a couple guys in town with DSM's that were having high temp issues.
So, a couple got a hood scoop and worked out a conventional ram air and others just cut holes in their hoods and just put a vent type figure over it. It worked well for all of them and it was sort of nice to see something different with the look of the vents, etc. Now is there any hoods out there made for a 94-01 teg that are functional with air flow (something carbon fiber would be nice too). Just any kind of vents to keep it cooler in the engine.
My GSR stays pretty cool all the time (175-180 degrees). Now when its really hot and I get into stop and go traffic it starts to heat up a bit. I don't like that at all and I really want to stay away from any chances of over heating and having to pull over on the side of the road to cool the car off. Because there are times where I don't have the time to do that.
Thanks for any input or any ideas. If anyone has pictures of ideas that would help too.
I'd really like to get a carbon fiber hood of some sort. Or possibly do some custom work on mine but I was just looking for ideas.

I "think" wings west makes an evo style hood for our cars. It might be an option for you. I have a good friend w/ an evo 8 and he removed his vent cover. Before you couldn't even touch his hood after driving the car because of all the heat, but now it's barely warm after driving. HTH.
Im also looking into buying a carbon fiber hood that have scoop and scoop that will release a little but of the hot air in my engine bay. After a little bit or normal/hard driving. My hood is extremely hot, i wouldnt be able to leave my hand on it for a few second... I think those mugen style hood have vent and evo style too...

I just checked it out. I think Ill probably buy that one. Looks good and I hope its functional....anybody know? Also, does anyone have one?

Ive thought about trading my OEM CF hood for an Evo hood. It just looks a bit "bulky" on Integras. In the meantime I have some washers on mine. I dont have any datalogged info yet, but I believe Pete ITR206 was planning on datalogging his this weekend.

A friend has one on his turbo GSR. No hard temperature numbers, but he swears his car is running cooler and when he pops the hood, it's way less hot than on my turbo LS with the stock hood. I would have gotten the evo style too, but it does look a little bulky depending on the angle you're looking.

Has anyone used the "Invader" style hoods with the recessed vent and found that they drop temp's?
I like the look of those ones but want to make sure they also work and help reduce temps
Cheers

Get the C-west style hood. It's an inverted vent but looks much better than the Invader (IMO). Put it on, take some pics then send them my way. I'm thinking of getting this hood too but i wanna see it on a Teg first
But seriously, it's not as wild/agressive as the Invader. Smoother lines, cleaner, etc...

why not address a posiable cooling system problem, instead of doing a band aid fix. It might be as simple as running a low temp thermostat
