I've got the STR BG in my LS right now awaiting for boost and it doesn't overheat. I haven't gotten any problems for it yet but I'm soon to find out as soon as I take the head off this weekend(i hope). I'll check for any egg shaped cylinders. If I have egg shaped cylinders, you guys think this would be the cause of my compression being 150 psi all the way across??

I thought that those looked like studs, but I wasn't sure, since I've never actually broken into my block I'll be interested to see how it works out for you. Do you anticipate any problems with such a small contact area on the sleeves?

The only problem I anticipate is that the sleeve itself may not be strong enough. If that's the case, the sleeve will split...but that would happen whether you had a blockguard, posts (like I did), or no reinforcment at all. The only way to really make the sleeve stand up to higher cylinder pressure is to use thicker sleeves made of solid iron.

We'll see what happens. My compression results were good after 25 miles of break-in driving (170 psi across the board on 8.8:1 pistons).
