which one would you use? The STR is about 15 bucks more...

STR looks like a nice block guard but i've still seen engines blow with a block guard so I wouldnt rely on it

If you really end up buying one, just do not buy the STR, it is over engineered and because of the radiused edges and water jacket cut outs on the outside of the guard it is very difficult to install squarely and sometimes core shift occurs during installation. Nuformz popsin just great, have it welded and the jackets drilled a bits larger.

yes, drill more holes. Cause I dont think the nuformz even matches up with the head gasket.

nuformz matches up with the stock headgasket pretty well, & i never had a problem when i was running it. however, that didn't stop me from doing this to it while i had my motor apart:

slotted the existing holes & added 6 more holes drilled at an angle to clear the ledge on the sleeve where the "figure eights" meet:




i'd say those holes line up a little better now...
