Default block gaurd? FullRace says NO!

oh here is the deal, my buddy called full race today, he had some questions, anyway...

we started talking about black gaurds, an stock sleeves, they said they run their own cars with no block gaurd, STOCK sleeve, and say they are making over 600WHP and have been running the car for over 3 years like this....

im personaly sleeved, but they told my boy, they dont recomend block gaurds, they told him its more benificial to take it out...

what yall think??!?!?!?!?

i dont agree!

properly installed, a good blockgaurd will be fine.

stock sleeves are much stronger than people used to imagine.

detonation kills sleeves, not cylinder pressure.

If you don't agree then don't listen to them. Run the block guard.

Why do you care what other people think? Whose motor is it?

Its the builders preference, not a law. lol.

My car is making over 600whp on stock sleeves. No block guard. If the sleeve is going to crack, it's going to crack. The block guard will keep the sleeve from buckling outward at the top. If you split a sleeve, you've most likely ruined the piston skirt and rings, so what did the block guard accomplish? We've built 20-30 engines over the past year and all but two were running stock sleeves. None of them had a block guard and none of them had any issues.

You obviously called Full Race for a reason (perhaps you know the kind of work they do). Why would you call for their opinion and advice only to completely disregard it?

I have heard that block guards have a tendency to oval the cylinders because they expand at a different rate than the sleeves. I don't have any experience with that so I am not a hundred percent sure.

I have a block that I got from a friend. It has a block guard in it already. how can I take it out? I tried sticking a thin screwdriver in one of the holes, and prying t out, but I'm afraid to mess something up. Any suggestions?
