Default super turbo? and another question

does anyone have any good resources on super turbo's?
searches come up with blow dryers and other nonsense.

also, i'm trying to understand the path that air takes into
an engine with a turbo setup.

if someone could post a simple, this goes to this, goes to
this 'diagram' i'd appreciate it.

ex. crankshaft -> supercharger -> intake manifold ....

thanks

Perhaps if we had some idea what you are talking about it might help. What, for example, is a "super turbo?" If you're talking about turbos OR superchargers, the air doesn't go anywhere near the crankshaft.

Turbo:

filter-turbo-intercooler-throttle body-intake manifold

Supercharger:

filter-throttle body-supercharger-intake manifold

Vortech supercharger - see "turbo"

The only way a crankshaft becomes involved in any of this is on a supercharger, the sc is driven by a belt attached to the crankshaft (either directly or through another attached pulley such as the alternator)

i've heard of people using both a super/turbo charger in one setup.

also, where do the exaust gasses come into the diagram?

i thought the exaust gasses powered the turbo.

Mixing superchargers and turbos is an expensive way to impress people. A well tuned supercharged OR turbocharged car is almost always a better solution.

You're right, exhaust gases power the turbo;

A more complete diagram would be something like:

air filter --> turbo compressor --> intercooler --> intake manifold
l l
l l
l combustion chamber
l l
l l
exhaust pipe <-- turbo ex. turbine <------ exhaust manifold

Except for the fact that the formatting is all screwy and I don't think I can fix it.

Where the exhaust gases pass through the turbine, which converts energy from the hot exhaust gases into high speed rotation of the turbo shaft, which drives the compressor to push more air into the engine. Just be sure to note that at no time does a turbo actually push exhaust gas INTO the engine. For some reason this seems to be a common misconception.
