Default block trimming with rev-hard kit....

I happened to saw a rev-hard kit on a B16 (Si) and I talked to the owner, and he said that he had to trim the block a little bit in order for the turbo t3/4 to be fitted in with the rev-hard manifold...

is this true ? I saw his block, he trim the little extra parts right on the edge where the block name is engraved on, and then the little fin on the edge of the cylinder walls(outside of it ..of, course)

anyway, I have a 98 GSR B18C and I am looking for a rev-hard manifold....
did you guys have to do this, or is it only on the b16 block...

thanks

You need to do this on Rev-hard and Drag turbo kits. Or what you could do us get a turbo that has a smaller compressor housing. Im not sure what spec of compressor would clear it, but I could find out.

I have the Drag Kit on my B18C1 and I didn't have to trim the block at all. Perhaps Arturbo is right... I have a T3/T4 "b" trim turbo. Smaller compressor.

I did not have to grind down the block either.... I am not sure what turbo I have but I think it is a T04B housing.

T04B housing clears block with the DRAG manifold with no cutting necessary. Not so sure about with the RevHard.

The real T04E housing is a lot bigger. I had to trim the sh*t out of mine when I switched from my DRAG manifold to the RevHard. DRAG had to trim a little bit. RevHard had to trim A LOT.

You can have a turbo with a T04B housing, but the compressor inside is a T04E wheel. That is still a T04E turbo.

what do you guys mean by trim? if its what I think you mean, then it sounds like its not a do-it-at-home type of work.

We are just grinding down the support webbing on the block I didnt take too much off. But that is what took the longest to do when I did the install.
