Re: Block Posting or Black Guard? (bluedelsol)
I haven't heard of anything bad with block posting...ask woofer (I believe he was the first one to introduce it to imports publicly) or Abaz on here.
Block guard, however, is controversial. Some people on here is making crazy horsepower with them, but others are having problems with them. IF you go this route, make sure you rebore/hone the cyclinder after putting the blockguard in place because it distorts the geometry.
Some say that the sleeve cracks in the middle and then work its way to the top...

Re: Block Posting or Black Guard? (specie)
i'm debating whether or not to run a block guard in my car. 120K and a maxrev kit. i see the geometry of the cylinder walls like this:
the cyclinder walls are like sky scrapers. technically, you want these things to be as strong as possible so they don't fall down and or break. but you can't make these sky scrapers too sturdy because this may make them brittle, and more prone to breaking in the wind. when the wind blows, the sky scraper must be able to "sway" a little bit so it DOESN'T break, but not too much that it'll bend the building.
the same thing occurs with cyclinder walls. they can't be too stiff and brittle, but also can't handle too much wind (boost) without bending.
so as for me doing a block gaurd, i think i'm going to do one for insurance purposes, but i'm not going to try and blow the block up. in the winter i might resleeve the block and THEN boost the ****** a lil more
