Default block guards? do they work?

how do they work? and what can i expect from my engine? will i be able to boost more, or is that NOT the purpose of the block guard. please help...

Some people swear by these and some just flat out dont like them do to sometimes overheating problems. I had one on my last motor and never had this problem though. Block guards are used to keep the sleeves from shifting, something they do in high boost and or high rpm's

edit: and no you cant go and boost more just cause you have the block guard. I suggest you have the car tuned
