[QUOTE=MotorMatrix.com]GE is just beating the **** out of everyone prices on sleeves and if you cant afford to sleeve a block in the 1st place and you decide to do it some people can only afford GE.QUOTE]
WORD to your mother Reallt though, I wanted to go with Darton, cuz I like how you can just change a sleeve out if a piston melts. Then I realized how much extra I'd be spending and it's already bad enough that I didnt have the $ for the G.E.s. Oh well sleeve is a sleeve when installed properly right.

if installed properly a sleeve is a sleeve basically. nobody here is going 40psi and if they were i could still say mine held up to 45psi for 1 dyno pull cause it did. Teh car overboosted 1 time on the dyno and the gauge went all the way around to OO in boost up to 7k. the sleeves were fine. i wish i didnt see the gauge and made a full pull. the dyno chart was going straight up and stopped at 540whp at 7k. that would have a been a nasty pull.

running Bar's Leak Engine Conditioner is supposed to help against dropping sleeves......or so I heard. Any confirmation of this?

BTW, last time i pulled the head off the block, there is the red ballooney glue stuff coming out of my golden eagle sleeves

the bars is not to stop sleeves from dropping. if they are installed incorrectly they will drop regardless. its to lubricate and condition so they dont rust. ductile irons rusts quickly.

I think it is also a small saftey measure to make sure the sleeves seal at the bottom as well as conditioning the sleeves.

wow, lots of responses!! ok, so it seems that sleeves would be the y corect long term way to go....what is a fair price to expect to pay to have this done? I need to be able to use my pistons that i already have so I can't have it bore any more than stock specs right?

My friends have had GE sleeves sink more then once on the same block, so far I havent heard of anything bad about darton, that why Im going with them. And $900 installed for dartons is not that expensive...

So how much whp can blockguards usually handle? I would rather sleeve but money and me being impatient is whats making me lean towards the blockguard rather than sleeving. Seriouly I would rather spend 150-200 for guards than 700-900 for sleeves. I know that I'm not the only person on this board that can't afford sleeves but wants to see atleast 250-300 whp.

Why not post the block? Just as good or better than a block guard, without affecting the cooling at the top of the cylinder.

ARI ductile iron sleeves, with a blockguard welded in have cost me a total of $400, including the machine work. Compared to the other options on the market, it was a great buy and will be strong as hell.

Where can I get this from? And do you have any problems with overheating problems?
