Sleving a broken block.. for my turbo project.. HELP
hey all i riped apart my friends old b16 engine ... i was going to use his block and get it sleeved...( with cast iron sleeves.. ) but he blew a piston #2 and also there is a small crack .. runing downwards about 1cm long from the top of cilinder #2.
does re sleeving fix this crack up.. or is this block as good as dead now ?
i wish i could take photo's of it.. but.. the block is still at my mates place...
Regards James

If you get GE sleeves it completely replaces the stock sleeve. As long as the block is not cracked, the sleeve could have a giant hole in it and it wouldn't matter.

Make sure the guy is using iron ductile sleeves if you want stronger ones. He just might be putting in oem replacments.

For all you skeptics out there here's the story behind the picture.
That is my old block. It was utterly useless do to corrosion in the water jackets (electrolysis is of the devil!!). So, we took our aggression out on it (see pictures). Afterwards, we needed to dispose of it.... So we eliminated all traces back to me and threw it away. Hence the removal of serial numbers.
The End
Stay tuned next week for the story about this pic......

If i had a motor that bad, i would have burried it. Put it in the back yard in a box w/ a headstone.
