Default block guard??

I have b18b with a block guard installed, the block has GE girdle installed as well. I been reading that BG cause bad cooling? Should i just buy a bare b18 and go with that?

I never had cooling issues with my GE block guard...and I had a stock radiator and everything.

I didn't want to make a new thread. im on my sidekick so im sorry i can't search atm.

Im going to bore my block to 81.5, eagle rod with cp 9.0.1 piston, acl bearing, sending my ls crank to laskey racing to get it balance and micropolish.

For the head can I use stock b16 valuetrain? or I need to upgrade it to supertech dual spring and retainer to be safe.

Is the victor x manifold good for boost? I want a quick spool and want to push 300-400whp. I looked into peakboost, Garrett turbo but there so many I can't decide.

I want this as a daily driver so would the stock sleeve with the ge girdle and block gaurd hold up? Thanks

I never liked the Block Guard. Just because it did overheated on me many times. Took my blockguard off, never over heated. I guess Block guard is 50/50. Good luck.

for your manifold q, edelbrock makes a performer x mani that i'm going to try and use. they told me that for the 300-400 whp range it might be better suited than the victor x. it kind of looks like the type-r/skunk2. and yes the victor is good for boost. but i think it is mostly for drag/400+. many people use it with good results on all kinds of setups.
