Default 82mm on stock sleeves and boosted?

I'm in the mist of hitting the purchase button on a few items but I'm unsure of which road to take. I'm going boosted for sure, looking for 400WHP on a weekend daily B18a1. The block has some scratches in it some I'm affraid +.5mm is to small so I'm going 82mm to be on the safe side, however; can stock sleeves hand 400WHP at 82mm bore? I know it comes to tuning and I plan to hunt down the best tuner I can find on the east coast, but in general will the block handle it? The head has the upgrades needed to handle the power, I'm simply working the block aspect now. What is your alls advice

To sleeve, or not to sleeve?

To block gaurd or to not block gaurd?

These are the questions

well I havent gotten any prices back from darton as far as sleeving goes, but how much does the sleeving process coast? I was hoping to not sleeve the block so I could use more money for the turbo setup.

Even with a clean block I would want to bore it .020 to make sure each bore is straight and within tolerance of the pistons....

However, if anyone has an LS block laying around that is in good shape I have a k20a block in great shape willing to trade!!!

How does GE's sleeving process work? It’s my understanding that the stock sleeves are bored and the iron sleeves are pressed in? Does GE do anyone final machining of their sleeves? For example, can I send them my pistons and have them do the final hone for the exact clearances needed? What about having the short block balanced, can GE do a full assembly?

What I'm looking for is a one stop shop. I can assemble the motor, but I want it fully balanced... I have a local machine shop here but they aren’t trust worthy of this... Where can I get all my performance work done from sleeving to the final balancing?

I will retract my last post, I just found GE website, showing full engine bulding capabilities... I wonder what that price would run, with the options of O-ringing and bead blasting the block?

We have sleeves to fit any budget depending on how much power you want to make. You can ship the block to our shop in Virginia and they can do the full short block assembly. Email them at DartonEast@darton-international.com. Darton East can do full engine builds, head work and run your engine on the dyno.

First im gonna say your goal of 400whp on an ls is going to be hard. Not impossible, but very hard. The ls head seems to start choking right around there. There is a boosted ls thread on hear. Look there to get a good start. I also plan on building an ls monster but going lsv to ditch that anemic head. And what do you mean can 82mm bore handle it bored? Stock bore is 82mm. Maybe i misunderstood your post. I would def. look at that thread though. There are plenty of guys making 300-350whp on stock sleeves.

I have tried contacting Darton on prices including,

Sleeving
Pistons
Rods
Micro Polish Crank
Assembly
Ballancing

And I never recieved an email back. I noticed you said you all offer different sleeves for different prices. I'm interested in knowing the different sleeves you all offer including design, material, and installation procedure. WHere can I find that?
