i plan on sleeving or buying a block. cant decide on what block would be better to do for a turbo set up. Either sleeving my b16a block and boring it out to about 84-85mm or buying a GSR block already sleeved to about 85mm. what block would be the best for about 600-750hp? i have a fully built b16 head that would be going on the block

i understand hondas lol just trying to figure out the best block my car sits at 350hp an want to upgrade running 20 psi daily but dont wanna block the block up so im gonna sleeve either my b16 or a gsr just want the best block

GSR block sleeved @ 84mm / B16 head = Poor man type R

if you sleeve the b16/b18/b20 then you can bore them out to a max of 85mm. which i highly dont recommend boring out that far. me personally i dont like to go past 84mm. or just use your block. or if you want to buy a new block get the b18b1 with a ls crank for the torque.

you sleeve it and it doesnt matter which block it is anymore....plan and simple

people told me to get the gsr sleeved block then people told me to use my b16a block an sleeve it so i was just trying to find the best block to use i already have a LS crank i was gonna put in the GSR if i got it but just trying to go the best route in this build

just dont try to put the ls crank on the b16a, the block is to short. the b16b is the same as the rest of the b series blocks though.

if you want to make that kind of power then get a b18b1 or b18c1 and slap in that ls crank.

or if your a baller just get a type r block! lol money pit

lol yea i no not to put the LS in a b16 block lol an i wish i was a baller for a type r block...so if i go with the GSR block should i use 9.1 or 10.1 compression

use a little higher compression like the 10.1, only reason i say this is because it will help with your torque for a smoother powerband, if you dont believe me go into the forced induction thread and look at the user "MUCKMAN" his motor build is amazing

Too high, it can be done, but the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. Your chance of detonation are just so much higher for a slightly better torque curve. Not worth the risk when you making anywhere close to 400hp/litre.

Probably actually safer to use a small shot of nitrous when you simply must spool immediately.

just a personal preference mayfly, but to get that kind of power he will be running at least 25 lbs and his compression ratio is already gonna be higher just by running the b16 head cuz of the smaller combustion chamber compared to say a gsr head, so he will need alot lower compression pistons than 10.1 or he will have a high risk of detination

GS-R heads raise compression because of the quench pads not the other way around.

correct but running the b16 head on a gsr block is gonna raise his compression a little, the point i was getting at was 10.1 compression might be a little to high for his setup if he is wanting to boost it that much to get to his 700 HP goals

why do people say i was XX amount of psi???? PSI MEANS NOTHING! get a larger turbo and run a small amount of boost. too much boost and you risk it forcibly pushing the valves open -__-
