Default black intercooler??sleeper

looking into building my own turbo setup and I really want to keep it sleeper and hide everything, need info on the quietest bov that will work good, and if you can paint intercooler black at all, I've found some people say you can use high temp radiator paint and it actually cools the air better because black absorbs heat, and if under your bumper not in sunlight it will absorb the hot air from the fins whitch is the whole purpose of the inter cooler. Anyways has anybody done this, how does it effect cooling, pictures would also be nice??

V can't even see it and from what i have read it does not effect performance. Just dont spray heaping gobs of paint on. I was able to keep my grill with mine :D

U get good reception with that antenna! J/P Looks nice but please next time u take a pic of your car leave those flowers out

I still think that painting your inter-cooler is a good way of keeping it hotter! your kind of insulating it that way. BTW guys thats not what u want!

as for a quite BOV just recirculate it back into the inlet of the turbo like a stock car would have.

WTF kind of car is that? J/K here is mine. Thin layer of flat black looks a little patchy but hides the IC well.

Yeah the pipes are what catches the eye. I guess I could put some mesh in there or something to hide them better. Not like my car is very "sleeper" anyway. I just didn't want a bright shiny intercooler right out front. That would be more eye catching than the pipes.

aactually it has little to no effect, im pretty sure no efect but i throw in "little" to cover my ***. There is a dyno test on here that show it before and after painting NO change in power. Please dont make me dig it up

I agree. I went for a drive in the hills and poped the hood after, hotpipe was hot, and cold pipe was cold! So I have not worried about it sence. Its not like you glob on paint all over the whole thing. A thin layer of paint over the visable area is nothing, MOST of the surface area of the intercooler is still exposed metal.

Just don't use any high heat/manifold paint which tends to insulate... That's what those paints are designed to do, and it will affect the IC performance somewhat.

Radiator paint would be my choice. I actually had mine coated with a coating meant for improving condensor's efficiency for about $40 locally... Just like the stuff you see on refridgerators

That grill will hurt airflow over that area quite a bit. Just because its got holes...doesn't mean its good for flow. Just a heads up.

My old setup, if you want even more sleeper, just use electrical tape around the hose clamp and silicone hose area and your golden

As far as engine performance goes, I dont think it makes a difference at all and ive painted mine black and went back to silver/aluminum two times now. Power is the same, it just might make a difference on Really HOT and MUGGY days

I hope it does hurt airflow, it runs warmer than I would like. It is coming off as soon as I label my beater as "reliable"
