Bead roll intercooler pipes
I bought 3" intercooler piping from go-autoworks but wasnt a perfect fit so had to cut some ends. My question is, does bead rolled ends really help? I had to cut the hot side where it meets the intercooler and also had to cut both ends shorter on the intake side where it joins with a coupler where the cold air intake would go. All the other ends are bead rolled. Im aiming for 500whp or whatever on pump gas. Are my pipes going to slide off? Or the areas i cut are not a big problem. I put the car together not thinking about bead rolling the pipes. my intercooler pipes are very tight fit with minimum movement think i will be fine or should i take it apart and have them bead rolled?

Re: Bead roll intercooler pipes
With quality silicone couplers and t bolt clamps they shouldn't blow apart. of course at high pressures clamps won't help. you need vbands, Wiggins, vanjen clamps, or piping braces.

Re: Bead roll intercooler pipes
As long as they fit flush, you should be fine. I have blown couplers when the pipes didn't fit flush and I had to kind of force them to get the coupler to connect them. And to answer your question, yes, bead rolled ends do help. If you have the time and resources, then you might as well get it bead rolled again. If not, it shouldn't cause too many problems. Just from my experiences.

That it does.
also you can take hair spray and spray the outside ends of the piping and spray the insides of the couplers
the solvents in the spray cause the outer layer to become very tacky. once you tighten the clamps it's as though you glued the couplers to the piping. works wonders and doesn't weaken any components.
