Default B20/VTEC's, 2.0L GSR's...lets talk turbos...

Since I've never had a B series engine, nor have had any B series freinds with turbo setups...I'm still kinda worried about which turbo to use.

I will soon have a Built B20/VTEC setup with goals of around 400hp for the track.

I already have a SC50 with .63ar turbine from my crazy ZC setup. I have been trying to sell it, but can't seem to get anyone interested...even for 600 shipped. Soooo...in the prospect of saving some money I'm thinking about keeping it.

However, I'm very worried that the turbo will end up being too small. I used to have a T-25 setup on my ZC, and I had HUGE traction problems because the turbo spooled up so fast. Basically, I'm worried that I will end up having the same problem, only at a larger magnitude with the new motor.

Right now I'm stuck between

My SC50 and the T3/T67 (for 400whp on pump)

Any B20/VTEC, or 2.0L GSR people have any input from personal experience?

Thanks!
Bryson

try the sc50 out first and see what happens, if you can't reach your goal sell it and get the t3/t67

Good idea. Thats what I was thinking...

I'm just wondering if there are any 2.0L setups with a 50 trim that can give any input.

I really have no idea how responsive this turbo will be on the Big *** motor.

Your set up and plans seems identical to mine, but I'm turboless till I get some money. I'm planning on running the GT35E cuz I'm sure it'll be out by then and people will be using it so I can compare. Run the SC50 so I can see how it does Whats your C/R?

I'm building a 2.0L GSR with basically a SC50. It's actually a ball-bearing Super-.50 with the wheel lightened for even FASTER spool. I like fast responding turbos.

400hp will be easily attainable with that setup. I have seen the .50-trim make 500 to the wheels.

Right on! thanks Avatar, and MarkC.

I also have to give props to you Mark on your old skool turbo teg.

When did your 50trim hit full boost on your GSR?

Thanks!
Bryson

EDIT:

The Motor is 85mm with 9:1 JE pistons.

No problem man. And thanks.

On my 1.8L setup. I reached 7psi before 3000RPM. That was full boost for me at the time. I loved it.

just let us know how it goes. I think we are all looking for a responsive turbo, without the sacrifice of traction. Bump for any other B20Ts !

Damn!

Sooo...81mm B18C with 50 trim at 7psi = 3000rpm spool
85mm B20/B16a1 with 50 trim at 7psi =.....2200....?

That is a super fast spool...

Maybe I could do a staged boost control with an Apexi B/C...
