Which turbo for b20
well, once i get my b20 swapped in, i will probably be looking to go turbo fairly soon and i was wondering which turbo would be good for a stock b20 nonvtec. ill probably end up building up the motor later and just maybe throw on a vtec head but im just trying to figure out which one to get good power but not have too high of a spool time(because the b20 makes peak power around 6k). thanks.

Yup that would be an okay choice. It would spool up faster then the t3/t4oe but the turbo may not give you the highs you want. It levels off pretty fast.

you mean notching the block? Well it all depends on the type of manifold you are using. In most cases you wont have to notch the block. It all depends on if you want to keep the AC or not. Thigns are a lot easier if you dont have AC, so you can have the turbo face toward the belts rather then towards the tranny side. If you have the compressor facing the timing belt then you wont have to notch the block.

attn ekb18c:
what kits (preferably for older models) have the compressor facing the timingbelt side? reason i asked is because I have a 90-93' Teg.

I dont remember which kits would have the placement of the turbo compressor facing the timing belt. It doesn't really matter if you notch the block or not. It's not a big deal notching the block.

Okay to the best of my understanding the b18b and b20 are very similiar so since you have to change the intake manifold to either a ls or skunk2, if you wanted to get a turbo kit for the b18b. Or just come up with a copy of it with the proper fuel management.

How bout a T25? Might get one for dirt cheap, that's why I'm asking.

shouldn't one try to keep the boost under 10lbs with stock internals anyways? what are your opinions on a setup with the t25 fabricated for a daily driver on bone stock b18b?

Re: Which turbo for b20 (bretx0r)
a super 50 turbo will do the job quite nice. I used a 60-1 To4e on mine before and had to much lag. MArk C hooked my ride up with a .48 and it runs really nice. Spools good, boost peak mark is reached in no time.

personally i've saving up for a greddy bolt on. i wanted a t3/t4 but my car's is daily driver and ppl tend to think that the smaller greddy turbo will be more USEFUL since they spoll up quicker

i wouldnt go with a t25...i hear that they spike REALLY bad, it may spool quickly, but i dont know if you would want to run something that will spike a whole lot...and i think it would be better to run a t3/t4 for the basic reason that a larger turbo running a smaller duty will preform better than a smaller turbo running a larger duty (in terms of turbo life, and preformance) maybe just a t3 is what your looking for, but do you want to piece it together, or buy a kit???
