b18a(LS) Turbo?
Well I had my Da9 for about 5 months now. I complete overhauled my suspension and it rides and handles like a dream, but the engine is still kinda stock (intake and catback). Don't get me wrong it has some power to it, but I was wanting to see the results in turbo. I seen the junk ebay kits imma go legit and do it right the first time. So my questions are:
Results over 250hp and 225 torq. with 16g turbo?
Internal work needed to be done? Pistons/rods/cams etc.
Use stock LS tranny?
And Do they hold up over time?
let me know what you guys think thx.

I don't think a 16g will get you there, I think you may want to go just a bit bigger so the turbo isn't being pushed to its limits. Block is fine for 330ish hp. Replace the bearings, rings, clean the pistons up real good, have it all assembled right, use ARP head studs and replace the head gasket. You of course will need fuel adjustment, and tuning. As for holding up over time, depends on your tune and how you maintain it.

Re: b18a(LS) Turbo?
I had a 98 integra.. bone stock b18b1.. with an eBay 50 trim Turbo, pfab manifold, Dsm 450cc injectors.. I put down 242 HP and 205 torque on 9 psi with 89 octane.. long story on the octane.. but that was with an safc only.. then got the car tuned on chrome with 93 octane and put down 285 HP and 235 torque on 11 psi.. I did NOT CHANGE ANYTHING OTHER THEN INJECTORS.. this was with factory map sensor as well. My advice is to get a compression check.. make sure your motor is in good running order. A stock ls motor will easily obtain the power goals you have. The ls tranny is fine for gas Milage but I prefer a b16 or even gsr trans to it. You might want to think about upgrading your clutch, I went threw an OEM replacement exedy clutch in about 2 months ( with autox sessions ect.) And then went to a stg 2 6 Puck unsprung clutch that held up very well.

Re: b18a(LS) Turbo?
wanna do it right the first time you say? Be prepared to cash out a good amount of money for quality parts.
ARP head studs
new headgasket
manifold
wastegate/ dump tube
turbo/down pipe
BOV
intercooler
intercooler piping
oil line
oil return line kit
boost gauge
stock fuel pump is good to 300hp if i remember right
bigger injectors
tune
**** LS tranny IMO either b16 or gsr.
Ebay kit is alright for starters, its really NOT that bad.

For a stock ls motor stick to the stock ls tranny. Your not trying to make a super fast car so keep it simple and reliable. Do it right the first time with good parts. eBay stuff works but eventually fails then your buying again and now your out more than just buying good stuff to start

If your going to rebuild your motor minest well save up for a set of pistons and rods or just boost it stock. My ls turbo with 230 whp 190 torque was loads of fun for me. It also had a Gsr trans

Do a compression test and leakdown test, if the results are good, then go ahead and boost the motor the way it is.
If you have any oil leaks get them fixed before you boost and just make sure the overall condition of the motor/tranny is good and you will be fine for 250 whp.
If you have any seapage around the head gasket, pull the head and install a new oem or fel-pro with arp head studs.
A 16G will spool quickly and it will get you to 250 whp. If you already have it and it's in good shape I say run it, this will help keep your costs down. Get a T25 flanged manifold and it will bolt up (unless its a 16G from a newer evo, those are different)
Don't compromise on fuel/tuning....this is the key factor for reliability.
Get a set of new injectors, 440/450/550cc any of these will be good for up to 300+ whp.
Get a new walbro intank fuel pump.
Use a socketed/chipped ecu, and have it professionally tuned on crome/ectune/neptune.
Make sure you have a good clutch as stated above.

I agree the stock motor and trans is fine for your goals. If you are going to open up the motor might as well built it up a bit, pistons rods ARP hardware. For sure look into a different turbo than the 16g. Even on a 4G63 motor it was to small of a turbo. The best most complete turbo kits IMO are Go Auto kits. The 16G will work and make power but you are very limited. A T3 Super 60 will spool up fast and be a good turbo for your goals or a T3T4 50 trim .63 AR, a TDO5H-R is a good turbo if you want to run a DSM turbo. DSM 450 injectors or 750cc injectors if you want more power in the future, 255lph fuel pump (I would never try to run a stock fuel pump on boost) and chipped ECU for tuning, Crome is cheap and works Hondata and Neptune are much better.
