B18A/B stock sleeve durability
A friend of mine is interested in trading his b20 block for my b18 block since he is building up a turbo project and I am going all motor, it works out for the both of us (stronger sleeves on the b18). Regardless of your feelings on that issue, read on:
Point is, my '92 B18A1 block has 75,000 miles on it and has been occasionally been seeing 7800-8000rpm (once every 2 weeks) for only 4 months of its life. My friend has the opportunity to get a really REALLY good price on stock bore JE pistons & eagle rods combo and before tearing the motor apart, I am wondering for those experienced, what are the chances of the sleeves in this block being out of round and needing to be bored over? The reason I can't tear the motor apart is that I can't do it quick enough until the offer on the pistons/rods are up.
TIA
