Default B18 vs. B16 (Stock Internals)

Which b-series swap could handle 7-8 psi of boost better...and which one would be more likely to see better power gains...I am guess the 1.8 liter but maybe the b16 flows better...?

The B18 will make more power first, but the B16 can handle more boost do to better R/S. In the end I'd say the B16 can make more power with proper tuning. I could be wrong though.

Go with whichever you got. I wish I had built my stock B18 with the money I spent on the B16 swap. Both are good, though.

They are both good, but with good tuning you can easily run up too 15 psi on a b18b.

They'll handle 7-8 psi just the same. The B16 would be faster(equal drivers and same weight of vehicle).

whether its faster or not wont make up for the fact you have a 1.6L in an integra (assuming you have a teg). You will always have more potential with the b18, regardless of vtec.

Not true... The B18 will make more power with less tuning effort. I've personally seen a B16 run 20psi with stock internals. That's all I need to say on this.

He lurks on this board in this very forum. I can't remember what his Sig. is though. I kinda saw it a while ago, but I promise you it is true.

I vote B18 there those things can take abuse. My friend runs 10psi right now. His car is down not because of the engine but the stinkin' delta gate boost creep and turbo seal blew. it was old also.

b18 all the way.

if your running a stock diff you might wanna role with the b18/LS as the b16 one is a piece of poo poo and will blow up under a few hard launches

yeah man most of my boys have too, those things are grenades, but the ls diff is a little strong. not to many probs reported with those ones. BUt if i was picking a b16 or b18 to do a turbo setup i would ahve to add 800bucks for a quaife right of the bat if i chose a b16 tranny. Cause stock it wont last to long. and when it goes it cost your the whole tranny case and all.

oh my boy runs a 97 teg with 12to1 srps, cold air intake, and 50 shot of zex. at the dyno he pulled 190tq and 180hp. its a monster on the streets and has never had any probs. my other boy ran a 2000 si with a 50 shot and blew is diff after a year of racing. and only made 180hp and 145tq

Really? I didn't see that, sorry. I'd stick with the B16 though.

it all depends..
b18b or b16... b16
b18c or b16...thats a tough call but i think the b18c has the advantage.
but nothign wrong with the b16....its a sweet motor!

Theres no contest between a b18c and a b16.

A b16 and a b18b are close, but i would go with the b18b cuz of more potential, and it would be easier to drive around town.
