external wastegate -vs- internal?

can someone simply explain why external is better?? i know you can probably boost more with external as opposed to internal but what gives?? just dont want to waste my money. thanks!!

besides being able to make more hp, you can control boost spikes/creeps better with good external wastegate - at least these are the reasons i went for tial.
