b16 turbo: want to use je pistons, but which one?
hello!
im going to build up my b16 turbo.
finished my search for pistons, i just want to use je pistons, but they have no one for a b16.
somebody may say: just use srp.... , but i prefer je because of the lower silicon percentage.
now i want to know which b18 je pistons can i use to achieve a compression ratio from about 8.0:1 or 8.5:1 in my b16 with a b16 head?
thanks a lot for answering....

and what are your expierences with a compression ratio from about 7.8:1?

Too low. just because you can run more boost, doesn't necessarily mean way more power. Idle has been rather sketchy at that compression .. stay about 9.0 and up. Lower compression may be a safer tune, but not a BETTER tune

I bought JE b18c pistons that yield a 9.8:1cr and in my b16a2 with stock head gasket they yield 8.8:1cr... off 11psi I made this

It works... should show 261.6hp and 186.6tq

Are the SRP-Pistons really a bad choise for Turbo?
I bought a set, but not installed yet.

Right... It was because you raised boost pressure to get that number, when many others would have done that on a B16 w/ 10:1 compression and less boost..
It's pretty common. We've had 11.1 CR get over 300whp at about 8psi.

It feels great on the street. Between the ITR cams, and a lightly ported head there was no discernable difference between stock compression and this motor, and I drove it around naturally aspirated for a while.
Based on my experience, I can say that there is no way going from 10.2:1 to 8.8:1 on TurboSI's B16 made a difference of 40 WHP at 8 psi. That is pure steaming garbage. If he made no other changes but the compression I would expect him to lose 10-15 WHP at the absolute most.
