What about FAST or DFI Gen 7,but I think those require you making your own wiring harness.

The fact that their software package is almost 50 megs, also makes me think it's bloat ware.
The autronic software runs really smooth even on my old laptop. Between the two, I'd run the autronic. its not very hard to set up at all. Its injector drivers are top notch, autronic products are known for their dependability, and they have great customer service. overall, the autronic is a good balance of being easy to use and being packed with features.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Nah, its not bloat ware, they include the manual files which make up the majority of its size. They didn't use to do that and it was a much smaller package, I think its a good thing that its included now. You can delete them if you are low on HD space. The EMS software runs perfectly fine on my 1GHz 512MB laptop which is nearly 2 years old, I have not noticed any blatant performance degrading memory leaks or anything of the sort. It does not have any glaring problems, I've found it to be pretty solid and reliable
The AEM forum is pretty solid, good information in there. I've never seen a Honda make that kind of power with the EMS, although there are plenty of DSMs and Supras that are doing that.

I bought my AEM about 2 years or so ago, a week before World Import Challenge in Houston, the first import challenge that got rained out. I was impressed with all the features it gave and being a direct plug in, I was sold. I went through over a year and a half of hell, dealing with tech support and so forth. You couldn't get the thing to idle, and the unit kept going out. To sum it up, AEM is the reason I am loosing hair, UNRELIABILITY! I finally got approval for a refund and went toward a better ecu which my car is running on now. Like EFIGUY said before, they were too busy releasing part number than fixing problems first.
If I was you, I would definately look toward a differnt ecu like ANYTHING ELSE! By the way, what succesful racer runs EMS other than Papadakis's new car?

That isn't a big issue anymore, there are pretty stable versions of software for the EMS out now. I run .94N and it has been doing great since day 1, I plan on upgrading to 1.03 pretty soon when it is convenient but I'm not in a rush. It's all about having a competent tuner, I ran into some problems, but my tuner knew how to deal with them. I doubt the majority of the tuners out there would have been able to figure out my EMS' bad coil drivers so quickly... Sucks that you had a shitty experience with it. There are plenty of fast DSMs and Supras using the EMS, and there are quite a few fast street cars using it on here.

Yes, but you see THAT is the point........In almost 5 years os selling, installing and servicing Autronic systems, I have NEVER had a customer with a bad coil driver!

The AEM EMS replaces the stock Honda ECU, it is not a piggy back system. It is not plug and play, that was just a misleading marketing ploy. You can plug it into the stock ECU harness and connect to it via a laptop and load a base map to get you started, but you cannot plug it in and drive off with it in 2 minutes.

AEM doesn't fabricate the hardware, I think they buy it from another company that has their own EMS system. Anyone know who it is? Not to say AEM shouldn't take responsibility, which they do, they seem to be very good about servicing EMSs that are faulty.

You know when it first was released, I spoke with someone from another state and he told me it's actually from some company in England and that AEM just slapped there name on it and began distributing it. It seemed like a hot ticket at first, then just flopped. I'm lucky they took mine back since so many people were selling them, the value for them was like next to nothing what I paid for it!
for a totally biased, uninformed and waste of bandwith post, a wise man once told me:
"The AEM EMS is the obx/meng header of engine management systems"
i just thought that was a funny quote. dont take it too personally

To help your decision, download the AEM software and mess w/ it for awhile. Make sure you turn on the context sensitive help if your a newbie, it helps alot.
I like the AEM software so far, but the engine isn't together yet so I haven't actually tuned w/ it yet.
