automatic w/ forced induction?
lol 240 ft lbs of torque on a honda would mean the engine was putting out about 500hp, stall speed of the converter doesnt translate to "power levels" it merely determines how you will handle your launch situation when you drag race, i dragged with the factory 2600rpm stall on mine and it handled it fine, i would have liked a 3000 stall but it starts to sacrifice drive ability on a daily basis. Ill probably have it modified to a 2800rpm stall however.
the only reason i want the trans rebuilt is because i want it shifting faster between gears, the trans has 200k on it, and despite the fact that it handles the abuse just fine, you can feel that its getting tired. Like i say to anyone who cares to talk **** about it being automatic, id be happy to race any time they please, but somehow they always wind up making up excuses because their 1.6 liter d series has just an intake and a huge greddy fart cannon on it and they know deep down in side the 5 speed wont make up for it.
I intentionally buy automatics when i get cars that i modify, ive always worked with them, and they are great for cruising especially here in jersey where the roads are terrible, and the traffic is awful.
without any modifications to the trans, the stock tranny should be able to easily handle 200-250hp with proper maintenance and taking care not to do anything stupid with it
not sure what the trans codes are on the d16's, gotta check the sticker on the trans. SP7A, S4XA and MP7A I would put at about 200-250 depending on how hard you beat on it. Hondamatics are sliding gear transmissions so they tend to work and wear a bit differently then your standard domestic planetary gear automatics.
