arrrggg! MANY fresh install ?'s, HELP! hesitation under boost!
Well as some of you may know i just finished my install i dont have the dp connected yet but i took her for a lil spin-spin anyway
well i have a hondata stage 2-b w/ 440cc RC's and a walbro 255 hp fp,AEM fpr
my main concern is the bad hesitation i get under boost
1.i set my static base fuel pressure at 50 psi but at the moment im only boosting .3 bar (4.3 psi; no flames please, the car is untuned)
is this TOO much fuel for this low boost?
2.timing is at 16 degrees, stock position, should i retard it a little?
3. i still have the stock plugs, gapped at .44 or 1.1 (stock setting)
could the stock plugs or the gap size be causing the hesatation?
4.w/ my EGT probe what should my ideal settings be at? it's a Greddy EGT so i think it's in Celsious?
5. one last ? is regarding the hondata, i once read of a FI member he was having problems w/ his and it turned out to be he didnt have a "B" stege, it was a hondata for a NA application, i know the chance is slim but YOU NEVER KNOW!
my hondata reads "2 BN 754" is this the correct stage 2-b designation?
just wondering cause all my trouble start at boost
thanks everyone

you should be running atleast one step colder plugs (to avoid detonation and fouling) and have them gapped much smaller. .030->.035...apparently all that air in there can just blow the flame out, so you have to keep the spark more concentrated, or so I understand.

Hey whats up man... Since I just went thru all of this within the past 2 days... (aside from Hondata), here's my input.
In the del Sol... I installed the NGK's (11's) and ran stock gap first. Car ran hard... I gapped them down from stock which is about .45, down to .30... the car didn't run as strong. I brought them up to about .40, and it runs great.
Timing, for now at 5psi up to about 8psi, run stock timing, unless you hear detonation... which you should not at that low of boost with that much fuel.

Try getting your Hondata tuned. That might help a lot. Base maps aren't meant to be the best only enough to get you to a tuner to get it properly setup.

i know but ive been running around like this for 2-3 months (pre-boost) w/ no problems, just a lil hesitation, but nothing along these lines.seems like i cant even get on it, as soon as the boost gauge jumps into boost, bang the car hesitates big time.
would it run this crappy on a base map w/ boost?

Wayyyy too much fuel. 440's at 50psi at 4.5psi of boost = stuttering, hesitation... you name it.
Just TRY 35psi of fuel, 16 degrees of timing at 4.5 psi of boost. I guarantee it will run 100x better. I've been leaning the del Sol out ever since I did the install. It had the same problems... now with a bit leaner conditions, the car spins 17 inch tires the whole way thru second gear at 6.5 psi...

jeeez why the heck did two people who tune hondata (very well known btw) tell me to run 50psi static pressure? i thought that was kind of high myself, let me try that, im just trying to iron out the wrinkles here.
hopefully i can convince one the muffler shops near here to weld up my dp!

Are you sure they said 50psi of fuel for 4.5 psi of boost? Maybe they thought you said 14.5psi of boost
440's at that pressure with that low of a boost setting is enough to make that car run like a Geo Metro.
EDIT: The del Sol is now running 40psi (vacuum off) at the FILTER, then comes the in-line pump and RC310's with a 8:1 FMU at 6.5psi of boost and I STILL think it's rich.

Re: arrrggg! MANY fresh install ?'s, HELP! hesitation under boost! (HybridKOOP)
Before tuning I had bogging under boost due to too much fuel. VAFC, 4:1 fmu, 500 cc R/C's, 255 hp walbro.
I got the fuel straightened out on the dyno. Once it was dialed in the bogging had turned to a bucking/missing problem under boost.
Gapped new plugs at .035 instead of .044 stock and it runs great.

Well how about this, I'm running 800's and stock fuel pressure/ 38 psi with line connected. My car hesistates bad up top making 7 lbs. My air fuel is 12.2-12.3:1 on the dyno, so I would think if the cars dumping to much fuel it would show on the dyno, right? Let me know what you thing! Later Allen

lets say first of all..
PUT the DAMN downpipe on....
I think you need at least a little backpressure??
put the rest of your car together and then go get it tuned..

Re: arrrggg! MANY fresh install ?'s, HELP! hesitation under boost! (GSRwBOOST)
lol, the dp is getting put on as we speak, i turned the fp down to 42 psi static and it helped a lil, dont know how much lower i should go at this point, dont want to lean out you know?
should i go below stock fp w/ 440cc's? remember this is only at 4.3 psi.
ah the stress that is boosting.

Well I've gapped them all the way down to .025 and still nothing. I'm going to the dyno again tomarrow so I'll see if I can fix it. In the mean time if anyone else has anyother suggestions or comments keep them coming. The more ideas I have the more things I can check. Thank in advance, Allen

well i figured out about 85% of my troubles, one was plug gap, too much fuel pressure and my ebc hoses were backwards, my wg wasnt even opening! <--- on me!
the rest should smooth out w/ tuning thanks guys!
