our trannys to weak for high hp & trq
IMO the Honda trannys are too weak for daily hard driven 370whp and lots of tourqe. I have to rebuilt my tranny in the winter time when my R is sleeping.
I can't believe that you high boost junkies don't have tranny problems after some time.
Are there stronger tranny available?

The guy who bought my ould turbo car (B18B 262 whp) just replaced the tranny. The old one was focked up, one of the bearings inside was half gone among a bunch of other problems.

The syncros IMO are the main problem. I don't care AUD, I want to know USD or Euro.

Actually, B-series trannys are quite strong considering what you're asking of them. Hell even my 107k mile old D16 tranny has been put through hell for 4 straight years, and only now have one of my sycs completley failed..

You think our trnnys are bad try having a MR2. I had to replace the tranny every year and i only had about 230-250 flywheel hp.

Re: our trannys to weak for high hp & trq (boosted3g)
the trannies are somewhat strong. They hold the pwr up to cetain level. They just cant take shock. I talked ot theguys at richmond gear which make fd for Domesitc stuff. They aslo stated even the fords and others it all based on how you are setting it up. Evne with strong fd other parts will fail. So the best bet now is to get complete regearing.

the b series trannys are fairly strong. i've only lost 1 gear so far this year (knock on wood). not too bad considering i rarely use my clutch. and i would definatly prefer a honda tranny to say........a dsm tranny. you think we have problems??? talk to a diamond star guy making over 400 hsp. they got problems.

Re: our trannys to weak for high hp & trq (KC GSR)
Hey Viren, what exactly are the parts of your tranny, is it a whole tranny with all gears, syncros main shaft, etc.... Are there any other peoples who have experience with this tranny? What are the gear ratios of this tranny? Please tell us the specs.
Is it for daily driving too?
Why is your tranny soooo much stronger?

my tranny now is bullet proof. The material is different. Each gear is carefully selected as wel as the final drive ratio. The gear set is very similar yo quaife gear set but 30 times stronger. It is built either with syncros or dog box for racing applications...
FD ratios are available in different configurations as well as gears set.

Re: our trannys to weak for high hp & trq (b18bturbo)
ah yeah, do you have a kind of list, where all the gear ratios are listed?
What is a DOG box? only for Racing?
I think a long 1st would be good. Up to 45 or 50 mph.
2nd about 70-75mph
5th for about 185 - 190 mph for the Autobahn
Tire diameter is about 600 - 610mm
hmmm, what do you think

It's funny with DSM guys, because they'll run 20 psi and have a nasty grind coming from the trans, but'll never address it until they actually can't drive the car any more....then they get another POS junkyard trans. Very few people are getting the full performance rebuilds, and they beat the **** outta them with 7,000 rpm clutch dumps

Re: our trannys to weak for high hp & trq (b18bturbo)
I recently noticed a clacking sound coming from my tranny, anyone have any guesses as to what it probably is? It goes away when I push in the clutch, so it's definetly the trans. Could it just be a bearing, or could the diff be going bad? Just curious what the most common problem is. Oh yeah, I have a gsr motor/trans. Thanks..
