Default ARP Headstuds

I just finished swapping a portflow head on my cousin's car. When I was installing the Headstuds one or two of them were not even with the rest. No matter how much I tighten it it will not go down. It says on the manual to hand tighten. This happened on my block as well. Will this cause any problems? Is it normal? I've had mine for some time when I put a blockguard in with with no problems with his either. Just wondering why its like that.

yeah it says to hand tighten but mine would not have been level either except I put some love behind them and put just enought torque to snugg them up.

that is competely normal, one of the threaded holes where whe studs thread into the bolck is not as deep as the others. Try sticking something into the hole and compare how deep it is to the others. Just make sure there is enough lubricant on each stud. Good luck, later.

I used some on my LS just last week. With plenty of supplied lube and hand tight. One ended up VIBRATING out of the block. This was after spending all day putting my baby back together by myself. So all in all I got to drive my car for 15 minutes after it being down for a month.
It is safe to say I am still very pissed off. Who knows the exact way to install these studs? The instructions dont even specify which way is up, side with the bulge or the one with the short threads.
I guess I am slow or something....

I put them in hand tight and have not had a problem so far.
I just torque them to factory spec using the arp lube.

Go to the Acura dealer near you and order ITR bolt's. They're good for up to say, 400 whp.

ITR bolts are no different than any other b18c/b16a head bolts.

Run a 11mm tap down the hole that you are having a problem with. Make sure the threads are OK. Then the stud should screw in all the way. I put a double nut on my studs so I can tighten them to about 15 lbs on installation. I think the directions say to torque the heads to more than the factory specs but DON'T believe them. 60 to 65 lbs is enough torque.

ARP studs should be torqued at 60lbs
