Anyone with a SOHC turbo setup using 3" exhaust piping???
I have a D16Z6 engine with a Greddy 15g turbo kit. I am currently using a Greddy Evo exhaust system which uses 2 1/4" piping. I was considering to upgrade to a Thermal 3" system. I was wondering if it will be beneficial or not. I know on a b-series engine with a larger setup like a T3/04 or larger that 3" defnitely helps. But with a smaller engine and smaller turbo, Im not sure if a 3" system will do more harm than good. If anyone has dyno numbers with 3" piping on a sohc setup, Id really like to see it. Ive done a lot of searching on this topic and I have found very little. Anyones knowledge on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I have a GReddy 15G with a 3" system. Feels almost as good as open cat, but a lot quieter. Top end is great compared to the 2.25" of Tanabe - it feels like the turbo keeps pulling instead of dropping off.

I was using a 2.5" dp into a 2.25 exhaust last year and it was crap. The 14b would drop around 6500 or so. This year its a 2.5 (3.0 if I can fabricate it to work with my existing O2 housing) into a 3".

looking for more feedback about the 3". How loud is it? What muffler are you guys using with it? I'm thinking about goin 3" with my universal turbo N1. Would this be too much for a daily driver? Or should I just get 2.5?

i should be gettin my 2.5 hi flo cat to 2.5 piping to 2.5 inlet/outlet oval muffler. i'll let u guys know how it feels. i'll be running stock greddy dp for now and will upgrade to 2.5 if i feel its necessary. only reason i'm not runnin 3 is cuz i want it a lil quieter for daily driving and to keep it a lil cheaper for now.
