anyone runing a open down pipe?
there was a post about this in the tech forum i think, maybe it was this forum i'm not sure but i'm wondering if these people who are running the wg dump tube out the bumper are experiencing any boost creep problems at high speed. All that air rushing past the dump tube exit may make the exhaust gases have to fight their way out instead of just casually flowing out. Have you ever noticed the huge exhaust pipes on semi-trucks? it's cut at an angle just for this purpose. so my questions is: Is anybody running this setup experiencing boost creeep problems? and my possible solution is: Make an angular cut in it slanting from the side facing the front of the car down to the back side of the dump tube.
The airflow past the end of a strait cut pipe might help to draw the exhaust gasses out- even without the slash cut. I guess it would all depend on the speed of the vehicle, the amount of exhaust gasses trying to escape, the aerodynamics of the vehicles front bumper, and some other things. Air is some funny stuff, the only way to know for sure how its going to work is to do it both ways, and test, and compare the results.
well i dont street race so im not worried..

I have run open for about 3 months now. Its pretty loud when you floor it. I had to add more piping so the exhaust wouldn't heat up my oil pan. When I did this it made it quieter. The smell sucks, sometimes I get light headed. The spool is intoxicating though!!
My friends tell me my car sounds like a civic with a Fireball or loud *** muffler on it. I hate the comparison but I think the cops think the same thing.
And I do get alot of domestics wanting to race, I think they feel threatened by little ole me!!

I am currently trying to build one of these DP......i need to see what it looks like inside the engine compartment....
so if soome can throw a couple of pics up of how it is routed through everything and how they put it through the bumper, it would be very helpful....
thanks

Open down pipe is so much fun to roll aorund with for a few days but it gets to you after a while and it does smell like some raw fuel. highway driving is ok as long as you can keep the throtle open just a lil bit. nice thing is when the woman tells me to slow down just push harder on the pedal and drown out the complaints lol.
I ran open downpipe for a few months and there is nothing like it. The turbo spool is so much louder and quicker... car sounds amazing and I would do it again. Noise? blah... i kept ear plugs in the car
