Default what kind of downpipe should i do?

im having a dilema. i dont want to spend alot of money on my exhaust system because i have none left over how. i have 2 2.5" mandrel u bends left after my whole setup. i was planning on running my exhaust of the drivers front bumper because on the passenger side it would just heat up my charge pipes again (so much for an intercooler). but now i got thinking that the dront bumper exit is kinda gay and when i get pulled over there is no way of talking out of a ticket like i have always done in the past because they will see this pipe on the drivers side. so what about just cutting the pipe in half so its just 1/2 a u bend and run the exhaust staight down the the ground. i kinda have a junkyard setup so i dont realy car about looks. is there a certain length your pipe shuold be so the motor has enough back pressure? let me know
