ok for those who paint the IC, do you use heat disipating black paint? or just paint?

and if you do use heat disipaiting paint where can I get some?

It doesn't matter, it's a design flaw. The air, wether you make a scoop that goes under your car or not, it will not get as much air, and the airflow will not be uninterrupted as it would be if you ran a front mount.

Even if you paint just the end tanks black, its is hard to see it.
Here is a pic normally

And again but with the flash to see whats really there.

Its a nice idea. I kinda of thought about something like that too, or maybe a v-mount, but honda's don't have that much room in the engine bay. Also, if you were able to mount a custom intercooler up high in front of the radiator, wouldn't that block air flow to the radiator and possibly cause over heating problems on a daily driver?

ok...aftering reading ur Custom setup idea..I'm wondering if this will intercooler will actually work efficently being in the engine bay....I mean..ur talking about mounting it where ur ac compressor sits?? With the crazy heat generated from a force induction setup.....won't this contribute to crazy heat soak??? will the intercooler even cool anything....any thoughts?

I would tend to disagree with most of the people here... I think that if properly ducted, there is no reason that this wouldnt work...
However, the downside (that others have mentioned) is that you now have an IC being constantly heated from behind by a huge heater (turbo/manifold)...
So think that efficiency and heatsoak would be the major flaws in this idea...

I would seriously consider a nice Air/water setup if you are that concerned about people seeing it... because the space where the AC is would allow for a HUGE heat exchanger...

thats my opinion...

I have thought about using a Air-water intercooler, but since this car is driven everyday... to and from work/college... don't think it would work to well

thanks for all the comments everyone.

What about the air-to-water aftercooler scares you? It's exactly like a radiator, only smaller and dealing with more heat, and your radiator doesn't have issues on a day-to-day basis, does it? Just get the Vortech aftercooler and forget about custom mounting and custom building end tanks, etc. It's known to support up to 525hp and, from my roommate's Typhoon as an example, I can tell you that air-to-water aftercoolers do an insane job of cutting degrees off of the air charge.

well it doesnt scare me... I'm just not sure how they work.... I've seen people use the vortech aftercoolers though... and making well over 400whp.

They run off of a seperately sealed fluid system, driven by a smaller kind of water pump. It's basically a super-thick-core radiator that acts as a fluidic heat sink to draw tons of heat out of the air charge. Drop super cold water in it and feel the powah!

Like said above.

Air-To-Water is wayyyy more effective at lowering the intake charge than an Air-To-Air system. And like I had said a page ago, it isn't really a problem until you get heat soak. And that won't be a problem going from home to school. And then when you drag race, stick some ice in that system and you got frosty air going to the engine.

I understand that its 100 times better, but im not going to be able to drop in some ice everytime i take a drive... an figurings heat soak will occur... id rather have an air to air setup.

Yeah. The A2A looks way more agressive. Ice in the A2W system is only recommended for racing because condensation could screw with things. Heat Soak only occurs when the water approches near boiling. You wouldn't have a problem.

But the A2A does look better.
