Default am i safe w/o an intercooler?

what are the bad sides of this? I've heard what you dont need one, if you're not running too much boost? how much is to much to run with out the intercooler?
thanks
~~homemade turbo in the making~~

edit: also, i've heard something about spraying water/alcohol to cool it down......?

I wouldn't run more than 4-5lbs of boost non-intercooled.
I/C's lower the temperature of the intake charge and decrease the chance of detonation, which lets you run more boost.

I was running 8.5psi non-intercooled for a short while. I don't recommend it at all. Feel your charge pipe after a heavily boosted run and you'll understand why. I concur, 4-5psi sounds reasonable. But with all the factory intercoolers floating around for cheap, I see no reason to run without one.

I see no reason to run without one.
the only reason i would run without one is this:
Right now i have my stock d15 in there, and it'll be about 2 months before i get my b18c1 swap in there, so for now, i just want to experiment with only running 4-5 lbs, on my homemade turbo.
Once i get the b18 in there i'll re-do the entire kit.
thanks though, and now, back to that water/alcohol cooling thing......?

A water injection kit is going to cost about the same amount as an i/c...

Just get a junkyard intercooler for like 25 bucks and rig it up....it's worth it.

yeah, would that work to spray the intercooler w/ water from the wiper sprayers? Or is there a better way to do that? Sounds like an idea... a goofy one, but still its an idea

well, yes it does work, and i've seen it in action. He even bought a nitrous switch to turn it on/off. Both him and I are big on DIY stuff

AND NOW BACK TO MY ORIGIONAL QUESTION:
how does the water/alcohol cooler work!!!!????

methanol makes the car run cooler that is why they dont run intercoolers. my friend has an all motor car and he is running meth and 5 mins after a hard pass you can put your hand right on the header and its cold
