Am I over boosting? Whats the popping sound?
Ok.. well I had some issues tonight with my car. I was driving around and were having a cold front here. So I was in second and gave it some boost just enjoying the weather. And for once glanced at my boost gauge. Mofucker climbs over 10psi and settles at like 13 . Now my afc isnt calibrated right and sits past the 0 and the box so I never really payed attention to it. But 13psi seems a little far up there. Anyway.. Im like wtf and shut it down. Checked my AFC log and it said the pressure was .61bar (9 psi). I run 8 daily so I was like hrm. Took it again to pay more attention and at like 5800 rpm it started popping out the exhaust. So I shut her down took it home and checked everything. Everything seems alright. Dunno wtf is goin on lol. I'm tuned really really rich and with a pretty large ignition retard by a btm. So I cant understand why I was popping unless it was maybe from being real rich?.. Can anyone diagnose this?

over fueling throws random misfire codes (I believe 72, 73, 74, 75)....if you are throwing no codes chances are you are detonating. with the afc hack you throw your ignition to full advance so no matter how much fuel you dump you might still detonate. that is the whole reason I went to the FMU and 450's from the hack

Umm, ok..

Try pulling 1 degree......What is yur afc settings? was it tuned on a wideband? Need to know yur fueling situation before can really figure things out....it could be a few things or combination of many...

Re: (TravSi)
Hrm ok well. I have 38psi fuel pressure at idle due to my big walbro255 pump. It was tuned wideband but couldnt pull enough fuel out without an adjustable fpr. I have one but its not on currently. My settings are like 1k -38 2k -37 3k -37 4k -37 5k -36 5.5k -35 6k -35. I've since richened from 3k beyond a percentage or so but havent made a pull. I've always been blowing black smoke in the top in boost. And never had this happen before.

yeah definitly off if you aren't throwing the code...what is you AF on a wideband with those settings....at 43psi idle presure I was into the high 9:1 range at 6500 on up to 8000 and I was pullin -50%.
I am goin hondata now and for the money just do that. the hack is not worth detonation and all the mess that goes with it in general.

Yea I heard that about autometer gauges that some of them are off and do not work correctly. Don't know if its true but if it is you might be right about the gauge not working right.

The gauge definatly isnt right lol. I'll be hitting boost according to the autometer and the afc says im at like -188 vac lol and I know im not boosting then. When I was last on the dyno my air fuel was off the chart rich. We had to shut down on the dyno because my clutch went and I was blowing pipes. Been fixed since, but I gotta go back.

Re: (SOFLSOL)
the afc will always read lower than the gauge cause you are manipulating the signal. AFC's have a peak and hold function but not really a log I am guessing that is what he ment

Re: (BoostedITR41)
wait, if the AFC will advance ignition timing, with the BTM your saying it makes no difference at all then? or do they cancel each other out or what..
im gonna start a thread on this cuz the older threads dont provide concrete answers that im looking for.

AFC advances timing doe to lowering MAP signal.
BTM retards timing signal itself...
So, AFC advances timing over whole band (even at idle), while BTM will retard under boost.
