Default All I have is the FMU, what else do I need? (parts)

All I have the is the bare FMU. What other tubes, hoses etc. will I need? Also, I know the vacuum gets t'd off, one hose goes from the nipple on the FMU to the fuel rail and the other from the FMU to the tank. Where do I run the line though. Obvisouly, I dont have any directions or insturctions with my FMU. TIA.

basically the order goes liek this
fuel filter>inline pump>fuelrail>FPR>FMU>fuel return to tank

So after the FPR the fuel goes to the inlet of the fmu then the outlet of the FMU connects to the fuel return.

Basically there is a fuel line that comes of the FPR the fmu goes between that line.

OK, I have an intake pump, so that elminates that step, but what I meant by where does the line go, I meant physically, where do I run the line throguh to get it from the FMU to the tank. Is there a special "passage" somewhere under or inside the car to get it there?

yes the line is located right after the fuel pressure regulator.
The FPR will have a vacume source...look for the fuel line the comes of the FPR.
When u find that line, the FMU bascially T's into the fuel line.
Sorta make sense?

Maybe I am just not phrasing my question right. If I were to trace the line from the FMU to the tank, where would I go? Under the car, through the firewall, inside the door, where? Or maybe its just a really dumb question.

Now I am really confused. Here is what I am getting from all of this.

1. The FMU has 2 fuel ports and a vacuum port.
2. The vacuum gets t'd off with the vacuum going into the FPR.
3. One fuel port goes to the fuel line and one goes to the fuel tank.

****, maybe I will just do the SAFC hack and screw the FMU all together. Anyone got any DSM injectors?

IF you follow the fuel line comming "OFF" the FPR, that leads back to the tank. So basically the 2 fuel ports from the FMU goes between that fuel line from the FPR.
So basically locate the fuel line comming of the FPR. Then you have to cut that line. fuel comming out from the FPR goes IN to the fmu. then the out port of the FMU connects back to the original fuel line that you cut from the FPR.

Sigh i wish i had a picture....

Your Pic

This is regarding the return line from the fuel rail. In from fuel rail and out to tank.

How do you just post the image? Nevermind

Stole this image from: http://www.cse.uconn.edu/~yelevich/turbo/turbo.html

****, thats not complicated at all. Anyone know how long the line from the FMU to the tank has to be? And where the best place to run it is?

You already have a fuel return line going to the gas tank. That line, which comes from the line off the stock fpr would now be connected to the fuel out on the fmu.

there is a return fuel line in your engine bay that you tap into. You dont need a new line from the fmu going all the way to the gas tank. Make sure you use fuel line not vacume lines

Alright, so the line going into the bottom of the FPR, now goes into the FMU? If thats true, then I dont need to tap into anything or run any new line? If thats correct, I think I got it.

That fuel line out lined in red (to the tank) is currently hooked up to your fuel pressure regulator. (Assuming its stock right now)

All you do is pull the hose off the FPR and plug in to FMU. Then get some extra hose (outlined in blue) and plug that between the FMU and FPR. Then do the vacuum line.

at least you had the brains to ask... i ran my fmu before the fuel rail on my old car 2 years ago, for a good month or two, till i realized..."hey this doesn't seem right"

You probably misunderstood me, let me clarify.

Newbie to turbo (me) helping a newbie to turbo (vtec-da).

Its hard to get an answer from the more experienced 1000 posters. Probably casue they're sick of repeating themselves. So I take it upon my self to answer the questions I know the answers to for the newbies.

Sorry for the wasted BW
