Default AFC hack FAQ

OK this is ridiculous. There are so many questions about the hack asked on this board I'm thinking it would be a good idea to post a list of FAQ and answers. I'm willing to come up with a list of questions and answers but I'll need help in revising, editing, answering, and persuading a moderator to sticky it once it's finalized. How about it? or

Suggested questions...

what is the afc hack?

- its a way to use the stock honda ECU to control BOOST

How does it work?

- lowers the MAP sensor input (with the afc) to allow the stock ECU to read boost...you correct for fuel by using huge injectors (~450cc)

How much boost can you run without getting a cel?

- depends on the AFC setting. -35 - -40% get you around 10-11psi of boost.

Any long term effects?

- None that i know of. Although you have to be careful of ignition timing...a BTM or retarding your timing a few degrees is recommended.

Is it reliable?

- I have close to 10,000 miles on it...without problem. Runs great i love it.

i can think of more but i'm hungry......

- i cant help you there

Ok I got an AFC hack question.
I just installed a drag Gen III kit on a 01 Type R. I used all the "fuel mangment" items that were included. (FMU, Inline pump) Now the owner bought an APEX AFC for the car too. After reading up on how it can be used I think it would be better to get 450 CC injectors and a better intank pump. But For now is there a way I can install the AFC and simply get rid of the fish tank check valves that came with the drag kit? I would still leave the inline pump in place along with the RR FMU. Also When I hook it up, if I just leave all the settings where they are defaulted the car should run just fine almost like it's not even there?
One other question: How can i convince him that an MSD Digital-6 ingintion isn't needed?

Not to be picky at all, but since this would be for beginners, it might be better to say... - its a way to use the stock honda ECU to control fuel under BOOST

You can hook up the AFC and have it do nothing, but it won't get rid of the check valves. You could get a missing link, but that is still going to be doing the same thing as the valves, only less mess.
As for the ignition. Get an old rotor and burn the tip with a lighter. Next rub it with sand paper and **** on it. Shove it in his face and tell him thats what his rotor will look like after about 5000 miles with the ignition on. If that doesn't work tazer him in the nuts and tell him he won't gain any power. If none of that works, IM me. I have one for sale.

One other thing. The hack seems to work better with turbo as compare to SC. I tried the hack on my SC and is getting RPM surging, plus my car doesn't seem to pull as hard as before. I guess I just need tuning.

Hell yes you can!!

the safc/vafc records the highest boost/rpm/throttle position during operation also.
