Default AEM EMS built in boost controller

Why would I need a boost controller when the AEM EMS has one built in it? Anyone ever cross this path?

I was in the same sitaution. I purchased my aem ems for around $750 shipped to me. A boost controller like a sbcid or a avc-r would have been like 4-500 bucks.

The gm boost solinoid is less than 100 bucks so i just went ahead with the gm boost solinoid.

i went with that route for there is better tuning with the boost contorller built into the ems.

did you tune the car with the built in boost controller? What was the result if you did. How much are you boosting. what is the gm boost solenoid? Where can I get one?

You can get the GM solenoid and pigtail basically from any auto parts store. I have a GM solenoid made by AC Delco which is offered my Car Quest.

I use the AEM EMS to control boost and it works awesome. Right now I am running 10psi. The only thing I hate is the damn ticking from the GM solenoid. I am going to have to wire it a lil differently so the GM solenoid will only activate at a set throttle position. That will stop it from ticking during idle. YES the ticking is normal.
